El español no es nuestro idioma nativo, pero trabajamos duro y nos divertimos haciendo este proyecto. Nuestro tema es Cometas. Investigamos, leímos libros, vimos películas y dibujamos. Conocimos a expertos en Astronomía (Richard Scott) y Astrofísica (Dra. Stacey Palen), fuimos a una fiesta estelar, visitamos 2 planetarios y probamos experimentos geniales. Investigamos hechos y aprendimos sobre culturas antiguas y sus creencias, astrónomos modernos y cazadores de cometas. Hemos catalogado algunos de los cometas más populares. Disfrutamos haciendo diferentes experimentos, algunos experimentos lo probamos dos veces. ¡Aprender sobre los cometas y tener experiencia práctica fue divertido! Planeamos continuar aprendiendo más acerca de los cometas y esperamos las lluvias de meteoritos en agosto y octubre. Estamos contentos de haber elegido participar en Science in Action este año y tener la oportunidad de trabajar juntos, descubriendo una amistad a la vez que aprendimos de Ciencia
Taking a Tour of the Universe: Comets
We are Hayden Clark & Charlie Starks, 5th grade students from NDPA in Layton, Utah. Spanish isn’t our native language, but we worked hard & had fun doing this project. Our Science in Action topic is Comets. We did research, read books, watched movies, & drew pictures. We met experts in Astronomy (Richard Scott) & Astrophysics (Dr. Stacey Palen), went to a Star Party, visited 2 planetariums, & tried cool experiments. We researched facts & learned about ancient cultures & their beliefs and modern Astronomers & Comet Hunters. We cataloged some of the more popular comets. We enjoyed doing different experiments, some experiments we tried twice. Learning about comets & having hands-on experience was fun! We plan on continuing to learn more about comets & are looking forward to meteor showers in August & October. We are happy we chose to participate in Science in Action this year & we had the opportunity to work together, developing a friendship as well as learning about Science.
