Mi proyecto fue sobre el tema de la contaminación lumínica. Primero, investigué qué era la contaminación lumínica, de dónde venía y cuáles eran sus efectos. Luego, para investigar más a fondo, realicé un experimento. El experimento consistió en tomar fotografías en varios lugares y utilizar un programa informático para analizar su brillo y comparar. Escuché sobre la Asociación Internacional de Cielo Oscuro (IDA) y quería aprender más sobre la organización. Pronto descubrí que un parque estatal local tenía un certificado de Dark-Sky de la IDA. Entrevisté a Wendy Wilson, la asistente del administrador del parque y la persona que escribió la solicitud para la certificación. Finalmente, utilicé la información para crear mi trabajo y PowerPoint.

Looking for Darkness

My project was on the topic of light pollution. First, I researched what light pollution was, where it came from, and what were its effects. Then, in order to investigate further, I conducted an experiment. The experiment involved taking pictures in various locations and using computer software to analyze their brightness and compare. I heard about the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) and wanted to learn more about the organization. I soon learned that a local state park had a Dark-Sky certificate from the IDA. I interviewed Wendy Wilson, the assistant park manager and the one who wrote the application for the certification. Finally, I used the information to create my paper and PowerPoint.
