Buscando a Pitágoras

Este curso hemos viajado a la Comunidad Pitagórica en la Crotona del S VI a. C para conocer su forma de vida y sus descubrimientos bajo el lema ”Todo es número” y ante la tetraktis y el pentagrama. Conocimos cómo sentaron la base de la escala musical y lo hemos comprobado con un violonchelo. También su visión del universo, en la que todo está formado por el número y sus razones, y su crisis de los irracionales, aprovechamos para indagar en el número pi y el número de oro. Pero la estrella ha sido su teorema: construimos una cuerda de los doce nudos, usado por los egipcios para construir ángulos rectos, hicimos maquetas con vídeos explicativos para comprobarlo empíricamente, elaboramos puzles geométricos de sus demostraciones, y lo hemos utilizado para comprobar que un ángulo recto está bien construido. Nuestro viaje ha sido un éxito, aprendimos mucho a través de actividades manipulativas y lúdicas. Ahora estamos preparados para acercar los secretos de Pitágoras todo el mundo.

Searching for Pythagoras

This course we have travelled to the Pythagorean Community in Croton at 6th century BC to know their way of life and their discoveries under the motto "Everything is number" and with the tetraktis and the pentagram. We learned how they laid the foundation of the musical scale and we have proven it with a cello. Also his vision of the universe, in which everything is formed by the number and its ratios, and its crisis of the irrational numbers, we take advantage of to investigate the pi number and the golden section. But the star has been his theorem: we built a rope of twelve knots, used by the Egyptians to construct right angles, we made models with explanatory videos to prove it empirically, we elaborated geometrical puzzles of his demonstrations, and we used it to verify that a right angle is well built. Our trip has been a success, we learned a lot through manipulative and playful activities. Now we are ready to bring the secrets of Pythagoras around the world.
